VIDEO: Hail, Rain Hammer Hampton Bays

It was a hot morning on Sunday, but when a thunderstorm swept through town that evening it included small balls of ice.

Hail came down on Hampton Bays on Sunday around 5:45 a.m. The skies opened up rather suddenly, delivered heavy rain, booming thunder, and hail of about a half-inch in diameter. While the hail only lasted a few minutes, the rain continued. The National Weather Service predicted a rainfall rate of one inch per hour, minor flooding in area of poor drainage, and hail as large as nickels.
