Truck Takes Main Street Power Line Down

LIPA crews have moved the line, but power is still out at some Main Street businesses.

A large power line went down on Main Street in Westhampton Beach late Thursday after a tractor-trailer, heading westbound to Waldbaums, clipped it.

According to police, the line was already low-lying from Hurricane Sandy and the impact of the truck hitting it, tore it out of a building, tossing it across Main Street.

Debris from the building, police said, landed on a 2011 jeep, damaging the passenger side window.

Main Street was closed off for several hours until Long Island Power Authority crews arrived and cut the line. Power, however, has not been restored to several Main Street business.

No injuries were reported.
