Traffic Report: Montauk Highway Repaving Project Starts Tuesday

Traffic delays expected.

On Tuesday, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will begin a repaving project on Montauk Highway from Shinnecock Canal east to Mainstone Lane.  Also a portion of CR39/North Shore Road will be repaved.

County workers says the project will take approximatly three days, with  completion expected on Thursday.

On Tuesday, workers will mill the road with paving on Wednesday and Thursday.

The project, coupled with at Long Island Railroad bridge project this week, is expected to bring huge delays on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

The Long Island Railroad recently announced that through near West Tiana Road in Hampton Bays while workers began installing structural steel at the bridge crossing on Montauk Highway near West Tiana Road.

The bridge repair project is part of an effort in Hampton Bays, which is expected to be complete by Memorial Day.
