Town Dems To Hold Presidential Inaugural Celebration

The event will take place on January 21 at 230 Elm Street in Southampton Village.

In celebration of President Barrack Obama's inauguration, the Southampton Democratic Committee will be holding an event at 230 Elm in Southampton Village on Jan 21.

The event, which starts at 7 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m., will feature a gourmet buffet dinner, dancing, live music — gospel, jazz, Latin — and a cash bar with special reduced rates. There will also be an appearance by the Thunder Bird Sisters, who were inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in October.

Participants will also have the opportunity to have their photo taken with a life-size President Obama figure, which has made numerous appearances around Westhampton Beach riding in a pedicab owned by Elyse Richman, owner of Shock in Westhampton Beach.

"He [the figure] is going as my date," said Richman, who said she purchased the life-size President Obama at a gallery where she also bought her controversial ice cream sculpture, which has been the subject of litigation.

The event is open to all voters regardless of party membership and a limited number of tickets are available at $45 per person, if purchased before January 14. After that date, or at the door, tickets will be $50 per person.
