Things To Do: Spot a Seal at Cupsogue

The Coastal Research & Education Society of Long Island will host seal walks through the month of March.

in Westhampton will host five seal watching walks this March, according Legislator Jay Schneiderman.

Schneiderman says the walks are being offered by the Coastal Research & Education Society of Long Island in an effort to "help county residents get better acquainted with nature."

The one-mile walks, which are suitable for children, are about two hours long.  During the walk, leaders will point out harbor and gray seals, which are abundant in area waters.

Dates for walks have been set for March 3 at 9:30 a.m., March 4 at 9:30 a.m., March 17 at 9 a.m., March 18 at 10 a.m. and March 24 at 1:30 p.m.

Those looking to participate should meet at the western end of the Cupsoquge Beach parking lot on Dune Road in Westhampton Beach about 15 minutes before the walk is scheduled to begin.

The cost is a suggested donation of $3 per child and $5 per adult. Reservations can be made by clicking here or calling the Coastal Research & Education Society of Long Island at (631) 244-3352.
