The National Weather Service reports that a blizzard warning for the South Fork is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday, and Hampton Bays is in the midst of that blizzard at this moment. Accumulation is expected to reach between 11 and 16 inches, with even deeper snow in some spots. The Weather Service warns that the snow may mix with, or turn to, sleet and rain at the peak of the storm Sunday evening. Extremely dangerous travel conditions are expected Sunday afternoon, into the evening. North winds will increase to 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts of 40 to 60 miles per hour, according to the Weather Service.
