Southampton Trustees Launch Facebook Page

The Southampton Trustees, one of Southampton's oldest government entities — founded in 1686 — have entered the digital age. On Monday, the trustees, who govern the bays and waterways, officially began using a Facebook page.

"Facebook will enable us to reach the public faster, provide them with up-to-date information and provide education on the important role that the trustees play in managing the town's natural resources," said Eric Shultz, president of the trustees.

As of Tuesday morning, the trustees already posted on Facebook a notice and two photos, one depicting a spring cleaning in North Sea and another of construction at the Conscience Point Shellfish Hatchery.

Shultz said the trustees will look to update frequently, but they don't plan to stop there.

In addition, to their Facebook page, Shultz said the trustees are also in the process of creating a new website, which he said will also be informative.
