The first ever quidditch tournament, which took place on Saturday in Quogue, was a success, according to Jeffrey Sherman, event organizer.
Sherman said some 50 players took to the field at the , playing quidditch for nearly seven hours.
"Everyone had a lot of fun and keeps saying that they're looking forward to it next year," said Sherman, a Quogue resident who is a quidditch player for the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Sherman said even the kids in stands got into the sport, picking up some brooms to learn more about the sport.
The event culminated with The Purple Parrots team taking home the gold-painted champagne bottle with a record of 3-0 for the day.
