UPDATED: Over 1,200 in Area Were Powerless Before Expected Snow Hit

Wind gusts of up to 65 miles per hour was forecasted before an expected three to five inches of snow.

Over 1,200 individuals in the Westhampton-Hampton Bays were without power as of Saturday around 9:30 p.m.

The power outages came as the National Weather Service issued a handful of weather advisories for the area, including a high wind warning and coastal flood advisory.

Winds gusts up to 65 miles per hour were expected, mostly ranging in the 25 to 35 mile per hour range.

More notable for October, the NWS is forecasted three to five inches of snow by early Sunday morning, calling it "a historic early season snowstorm for the Tri-State region."

According to a LIPA power outage map, roughly 1,150 people in the Tiana Bay area were expected to be plugged back in by 10:00 p.m. Another 65 people in the vicinity of Westhampton Country Club were scheduled for a midnight restoration.
