New Exercise Studio Opens in Speonk

The new gym also has classes for kids.

East Hampton's Lift Hampton has expanded to west with a new location opening this month at 295 Montauk Highway in Speonk.

Owner of the new studio, Remsenburg resident Benita Olsen, who is a self-proclaimed gym-rat, said she is more than thrilled to open a fitness spot in an area where there are currently no other gyms.

"The closest place is six miles away," she said.

Olsen, who has been in the fitness industry for some 15 years, said she was looking for a new opportunity when she decided to reach out to gym owner and trainer Ken Fitzgerald.

The pair teamed up and created a hybrid of Fitzgerald's existing East Hampton Lift Hampton gym.

While the East Hampton location caters just to trainers in which trainers are members, the Speonk location also welcomes community members, said Olsen.

"We are a training facility and also a full-service gym where customers can take advantage of a personal trainer," she said.

All members, she said will not only have access to trainers, but also classes.

"We want to encourage people to take their workout to the next level," she said. "So many people aren't sure what they should do or need to do and need a challenge and someone to guide them through it."

Some of the classes being offered, include stretch, yoga, kick-boxing, body sculpting, boot camp, Pure X training, cycle, and cycle boot camps.

"We are a gym that offers a little ofeverything," said Olsen, noting that kids are also welcome at the gym.

With three young kids of her own, Olsen said she wanted to be sure to offer something to children. One class is available is a kids yoga.

"We want to give trainers and our members all the tools to get the best experience and want our studio to become part of their life," she said.

The studio is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on weekends from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Day passes as well as monthly and yearly memberships are available.
