Updated: Medevac Called to Car Crash on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays

Police say the accident involved a car and motorcycle; details are still unclear

Suffolk County Police Medevac from Stony Brook University Hospital was called at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday to Montauk Highway at Bess Lane after a car and motorcycle collided, according to Southampton Police Sergeant John Boden.

Southampton Police say Stephen Cea, 51, of East Quogue was airlifted with serious injuries after a 2007 Saturn Convertible, driven by Arnold Baker, 70, of New  York City veered in front of his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Police say Cea was unable to avoid the collision.

The medevac helicopter landed in the parking lot of the and took off at approximately 1 p.m. after emergency personnel loaded a patient on a stretcher into the aircraft.

Boden said a portion of Montauk Highway was shut down for about an hour.
