Residents of the East End are saying that with plastic being now being used more than glass jars and bottles, coveted beach glass is in limited supply.
In a post asking readers where they find beach glass on area beaches, readers, like indicated that sadly beach glass has become a rarity, but litter has become a common scence on area beaches.
He said it is "tragic."
Other readers like confirmed that they too have found little beach glass and said they would rather see people toss glass bottles into the sea than leave their dog's waste behind.
said, "I do miss how plentiful beach glass was and I attribute it to the out of control production and use of plastic."
Other readers said that they have found plenty of glass, but it is a matter of knowing where to look for it. But none would disclose where they go beach glass hunting.
wrote, "I have a spot but not telling."
