Leaf Pickup, Spring Cleanup Begins April 22

Southampton Town Highway Department to pick up bagged leaves and winter kills curbside.

The Southampton Town Highway Department's spring cleanup program gets underway April 22, when highway workers will begin picking up leaves in biodegradable paper bags and winter-kill branches up to 3 inches in diameter.

Loose leaves and leaves in plastic bags will not be accepted.

Each residence is limited to 8 cubic yards of brush. Tree trimmings, hedge clippings and stumps will not be accepted.

The town's spring cleanup program does not apply to incorporated villages, including Westhampton Beach, Westhampton Dunes and Quogue

Town residents may self-haul leaves for free year round to the North Sea, Hampton Bays and Westhampton transfer stations. Brush can be dropped for free during an amnesty period from April 15 to May 31.

There are three districts west of the Shinnecock Canal, and clean up of each district begins on April 22: 

District one covers Eastport east to Quiogue.  This district will be starting in Eastport working their way east to Quiogue.  This district also includes the “Wildlife 1” subdivision.

District two covers East Quogue, east to West Tiana Road and Flanders, north to Riverside at CR 104.  This district will be starting in the Northampton/Wildwood Lake area, than they will complete Riverside and Flanders before moving into East Quogue.

District three covers Hampton Bays, from East Tiana Road to the west side of the canal.  This district will start on the north side of Montauk Highway on Red Creek Road heading south.   After completing all of the north side of Montauk Highway, they will move to the south side and complete all the roads west of Ponquogue Avenue before moving east of Ponquogue Avenue.
