Hurricane Sandy Forces Area Schools to Close; Cancellations

Area school districts, libraries and organizations have begun to announce closings and cancellations as Hurricane Sandy moves closer.

The following is a list of announced closures. Be sure to check back frequently for updated information. And if you have a cancellation, you'd like to let our readers know about, post it as a comment below or e-mail Erica.Jackson@Patch.com.

• Westhampton Beach School District schools will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

• The Westhampton Free Library will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

• Hampton Bays School District schools will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. 

• East Quogue Elementary School will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

• The Quogue Library will be closed on Monday. 

• The Hampton Bays Library will be closed on Monday.

• The Remsenburg-Speonk School District will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

• Hampton Bays Cub Scout Pack 483 has cancelled its Tuesday evening Den meetings at the Anderson Warner Hall.

• The Eastport/South Manor School District will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

• Southampton/East Hampton Business Alliance co-sponsored Congressional Debate scheduled for Tuesday evening 7 p.m. @ Bridgehampton Community House is cancelled.
