How Will Area Main Streets Fare in 2013?

We saw what happened in 2012. What will happen this year?

The year 2012 saw several changes on Main Streets in Westhampton, Hampton Bays and East Quogue.

In Hampton Bays, a new citizen group, called Concerned Citizens of Hampton Bays, formed to address the blight on Main Street, as well as around the hamlet. The group also said it aims to work to improve the overcrowding situation in the area.

In Westhampton Beach, there were some new additions to Main Street including Good Westhampton and Lynn Stoller's move to a new location. And in 2013, a new building may be erected on the corner of Library Avenue Ext. and Main Street. Beach Bakery will also look different with an addition and new owners have taken over Main Street Sweets.

In East Quogue in 2012, a cash mob descended on Main Street to help give businesses a shot in the arm with all businesses saying they were grateful for the effort.

What we're curious about is where you see the Main Streets in Westhampton Beach and Hampton Bays heading this upcoming year. How do you think they will fare in 2013? What do you want to see done? What would you like to be able to do there in a year that you can't do now?

P. Killian, Thanks for asking. We just reached out to State police. They are doing seatbelt checks.
