The Hampton Bays Middle School is no longer open as an overnight shelter; however, according to Lars Clemensen, superintendent of schools, the school is open for hot showers, meals and for phone charging.
The school will be open until 9 p.m. on Saturday night and will reopen on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Residents wishing to warm up should bring their own chargers and toiletries for the shower.
"Residents can come in to charge their phones, watch the news, and take the chill off," said Clemensen.
