Hampton Bays Library's Roof Leaks After Blizzard
No books or other library materials lost.
After a blizzard dropped a foot of snow on Hampton Bays Friday into Saturday, Hampton Bays Public Library is open on Monday — but with a small section near the circulation desks roped off due to leaks.
Library Director Susan LaVista said that no materials were damaged from the leaks. Staffers from different departments worked together to move or cover the materials, she said. One leak was over the section for the newly released books, and another was over the children's librarian's desk.
LaVista said leaks are an ongoing problem at the library, because the roof is flat. Roofers are working Monday to clear snow and fix the leaks for now, she said, and a long-term solution will be explored.
