UPDATE: 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday: The Hampton Bays Fire Department was unable to reach a fire that broke out Monday night on Dune Road. Read the story here.
Update 9:30 p.m. Monday: The Hampton Bays Fire Department has reportedly received a call of a fire on Dune Road near Neptune Beach Club and Mermaid Lane. No details were immediately available. Bridges to Dune Road were deemed impassable early on Monday.
Update 6:30 Monday: The Hampton Bays Fire Department has reportedly been called to a water rescue at Springville and Rampasture at 6:15 p.m. At the same time, calls came in for downed lines on Squiretown Road, Fanning Avenue, Washington Heights Avenue and School Street.
Update 4:30 p.m Monday: The Hampton Bays Fire Department has reportedly been called out to two additional fires.
At 4:30 p.m., the department recieved a call of a brush fire on Canoe Place Road and at 4:15 p.m., firefighters were called to a reported structure fire on poplar Street. Additionally, at 4:15, a call went out for a gas detector alarm on Argonne Road East.
Previous: While working to evacuate residents, the Hampton Bays Fire Department was called a shed fire late Monday morning.
The fire, which broke out on Chevy Chase Road, was under control quickly, according to the department's Facebook Page.
Shortly after battling the blaze, the department was called to Flanders Road where cars were reported stuck in the water with occupants inside.
According to reports, the occupants of the cars were able to be rescued.
In addition, the department has been called to two separate instances of downed wires and the department, via its Facebook Page is urging residents to stay inside as winds continue to pick up.
