Event Preview: 14th Annual Chili Chowder Contest

It's on. The Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce 14th Annual Chili Chowder Contest is set for Sunday at noon at the Boardy Barn.

This year's contest, which raises money for the chamber's scholarship program, is expected to bring out nearly 600 people who will have the opportunity to try chili and chowder made by 21 contestants.

Aside from individual entries, local eateries participating include the reigning chili champion 1 North Steakhouse and the chowder champion Rumba, whose owners have entered the contest under their new restaurant, Cowfish.

Other restaurants participating are Villa Paul, Shuckers, Dockers and TR Restaurant.

The event, which costs $10 for adults and $3 for children, will also feature free facepainting for the kids and a raffle.
