In conjunction with Veteran’s Day, Girl Scouts of Suffolk County is partnering with Wendy’s Restaurant in support of Operation:Cookie, an initiative that sends Girl Scout cookies to U.S. military overseas and to those recovering in military hospitals.

Family Service League, one of Long Island’s largest non-profit human services agencies, is living up to their mantra “Restoring Hope. Rebuilding Lives” by offering crisis intervention counseling and information and referral services to individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

4. Union Head: Electrical Workers Respond to Crisis

Don Daley wrote, "Every Long Islander has had to sacrifice because of Hurricane Sandy. But few have given as much as the hard-working, dedicated electrical workers who are restoring power to Long Island’s homes, businesses, hospitals and transit."

King Kullen Grocery Co.,and its wholesale grocery supplier, Bozzuto’s Inc. are donating $100,000 in the form of supermarket gift cards so that Long Islanders impacted by Hurricane Sandy can obtain food and other basic supplies.
