Overview: Right in the middle of antique row in Eastport, this luncheonette caters to all kinds of tastes. Service is quick and available at tables or at the long counter.
Decor: Straight out of central casting, the luncheonette has oil cloth on the tables, mismatched chairs and plates. The little house has been around since 1922 when it was a soda fountain. It's been a luncheonette since 1956. Noreen, who's been working here for 16 years, bought it five years ago. Hanging on the walls are clippings of restaurant reviews and posters for bands, because this luncheonette hosts live music every Friday.
Food: Diner standards at reasonable prices. Two eggs with toast and home fries are $4.25. Omelets start at $5.50 and got to $8.25. And there are six different kinds of French toast. Burgers come in two sizes, $5.25 for a quarter pounder and $7.50 for a half pound. The fried flounder sandwich ($6.95) is fresh and the soups are homemade. A children's menu costs $5.00 for chicken nuggets or grilled cheese. It seemed like the meatloaf ($8.95) was on every table. Good, homey and fast, with a little bit of tunes on the side.
