Southampton Business Alliance to Honor Hospital CEO

The Southampton Business Alliance announced recently that Robert Chaloner – CEO of Southampton Hospital – will be named its businessperson of the year at an upcoming event in May.

SBA President Aram Teruchian noted that Chaloner's work at the hospital has had an affect far beyond its emergency room and care centers – which were boosted in 2012 with the addition of a heart and stroke facility.

“Bob came to Southampton Hospital in 2006 when they were facing financial crisis, an aging facility infrastructure, staff morale issues and community distrust. During his tenure, the Hospital has returned to financial stability and so much more,” Terchunian said in a statement.

“The hospital’s positive turnaround directly affects the economic outlook of the entire region, making our area a more desirable place to live, work and vacation.”

Chaloner's favor extends beyond the business community as well: Southampton Patch readers voted the CEO as Southampton Patch's Greatest Person of 2012.

Heather Dunn-Kostura commented at the time: "Bob Chaloner will not rest until we have a world class hospital. He works long hours and spends much of what would be personal time working with the entire East End community. He deserves recognition for everything he has done and continues to do."

The SBA will honor Chaloner at a May 7 golf outing at Hampton Hills Golf Club.

Looking beyond May, Teruchian added that he and others in the community look forward to further growth at the hospital.

“Of course the best is yet to come as we look forward to the new hospital to be built on the Stony Brook University-Southampton campus."
