Shuckers Sets Opening Season Date

The seasonal restaurant will open May 18.

For the past several weeks, Patrick McCormack, the owner of Shuckers, in Hampton Bays, has been readying his seasonal business for a May 18 opening.

Shuckers fans will be excited to know that over the winter, a brand-new menu was created with new head chef John Heaney of Hampton Bays.

Heaney, said McCormack is a Johnson & Wales graduate and previously ran the Tasty Grill in Patchogue, which was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy.

"He brings a new perspective to the already unique menu at Shuckers," said McCormack.

Working with Chef Heaney is Chef Jeff Stolowitz, a Westhampton Beach native.

McCormack said Stolowitz is back in the Hamptons after spending time in Daytona Beach at Captain Steamers Oyster bar.

"Jeff plans to showcase some of the dishes from the award-winning, pirate-themed oceanside bar here at Shuckers this season," said McCormack.

McCormack said two new dishes to try are coconut shrimp tacos with apricot Dijon and a sesame crusted tuna wrap with soy ginger wasabi.

Of course, old favorites will be available, said McCormack, including fish tacos with chipolte aioli and asian slaw and a raw bar that will be stocked with fresh clams and oysters.

Weekend specials are also set, like beer mussel Fridays and $19.95 llobster with clams, mussels and corn on Saturday and Sundays.

Shuckers, located at 98 Foster Avenue, also features a kids menu and live music during dinner hours.

Shuckers will be open at 5 p.m. on May 18 with Acoustic Vibe live on the deck with original reggae music.
