Shock Kosher Goods Now Under Supervision of Synagogue

The agreement was reached after the synagogue and the Beach Bakery severed ties after a dispute

Shock Ice Cream, which has always served kosher goods is now under the supervision of the Hamptons Synagogue.

Elyse Richman, owner of Shock, and the synagogue recently came to an agreement in which the synagogue will be inspecting all of the goods at Shock, including bakery items, like cupcakes that can be purchased as a single snack or ordered for parties.

The agreement was reached eight months after the synagogue and the Beach Bakery severed ties after a dispute. Simon Jorna, owner of the Beach Bakery and the synagogue had worked closely for nearly 20 years before the disagreement in which Jorna said the synagogue hired another company and paid them more than what they had been paying him for similar services.

The Hampton Synagogue did not wish to comment about the disagreement.
