Planet Fitness Gets a Makeover; More Renovations on the Way

The Hampton Bays fitness studio now features tanning beds and massage chairs.

Hampton Bays' Planet Fitness gym is in the process of getting a makeover.

After serving the community for 20 years — seven of them as Planet Fitness, and as World Gym in years' prior — it was time for a renovation, said Nancy Kouris, the managing partner.

The project, she said, is being done in stages, with the first stage — a refurbishment of the locker rooms — completed late last year.

The second phase includes a new spa area with two new tanning beds to add to the two existing tanning booths; a hydro-massage bed; massage chairs; and a Beauty Angel Total Body Enhancement Booth that Kouris said improves skin tone and texture while decreasing wrinkles and firming skin.

"The new area is really beautiful with wood floors and crown molding," she said.

The new equipment is available to all premiere members, who pay $19.99 a month, and may require appointments.

Kouris said the spring will bring the third and final stage to the gym's refurbishment with the addition of 2,500 square feet of space. The mezzanine will be renovated to accommodate new cardio equipment.

"It will be much more comfortable up there with high ceilings and a big fan," she said.
