Owners Looking to Convert Bar to Apartment Complex

A public hearing on the proposal is set for June 20.

The owners of a shuttered bar, located at 19 Montauk Highway in Westhampton are looking to build a 14-unit apartment complex on the property, but, before they can bring their vision to fruition, they need a stamp of approval from Southampton Town Board of Zoning Appeals.

According to their application, submitted in March, Citron 19 Montauk, LLC. is asking the ZBA to approve a change of zone request that would allow them to build the complex, proposed to include three separate buildings with 14 units of 2 and 3 bedrooms apartments.

The property is currently zoned residential, however, it was operated under a pre-existing, non-conforming use as a restaurant/bar. Now, the owners are asking that the property be re-zoned to multi-family residential for their project.

A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for June 20 at 7:00 p.m. at  Southampton Town Hall.
