Open for the Season: The Inn at Quogue

Dockers owner Larry Hoffman will be running the Inn's bar this season.

The bar at the historic Inn at Quogue, also known as the Weathervane, is set to open for the season on Friday at 5 p.m.  While the restaurant at the site will not be open daily as it has in year's past, the bar will be open for business, said Rocco Lettieri, owner.

Lettieri, who has owned the 172-year-old, 16-room Inn at Quogue for the past five years, said that with his development project set to start across the street from the Inn in the next couple of weeks, he decided to just open the bar and inn accommodations this season.

And with his hands full with the housing project, Lettieri said he has decided to team up with Larry Hoffman, owner of , to make the bar a success this season.

"Larry and are friends," said Lettieri, "and this year I thought to get him involved in the bar."

Lettieri also says that the restaurant, while closed on a regular basis, is available for rent for private parties and events.

Hoffman said he is excited about the prospects about running the bar at the Inn, especially since he used to own the property.

"I am happy to do it," said Hoffman, who said that he will be staffing the bar with Docker's bartenders. "I live in Quogue and the Inn at Quogue is very important to the community. It is a place to go to meet people and mingle."

Hoffman says the Inn at Quogue bar will be open Thursday through Sunday with a happy hour each night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

To kick off the season, Hoffman said he is working on an event Sunday night and billing it as a Docker's After Hours Party at the Inn at Quogue, starting at 11 p.m., complete with a midnight buffet and a DJ.
