New Westhampton Chamber President Named

Sarah Mendenhall-Luhmer was selected as the new chamber president.

On Wednesday night, Westhampton Chamber of Commerce members elected a new president — Sarah Mendenhall-Luhmer.

Mendenhall-Luhmer has been a member of the chamber for five years as part-owner of Mendenhall Fuel, a 80-year-old business, started by her grandfather.

Last year, Mendenhall-Luhmer was elected to the chamber board, helping to work on the chamber's annual events and projects.

Now, as president, she said hopes to continue that work, focusing on the chamber's popular arts and craft show, its annual egg hunt, the farmer's market and Halloween parade.

But, she also hopes to bring some new things to the chamber — she said she is ready to work with the board to create a more-formal shop small campaign, find ways to help promote local businesses, and also host a job fair.

The job fair, she said would be open to all, but she said the board would like to focus on jobs for veterans returning home.

Mendenhall-Luhmer said she is especially looking forward to working with Main Street shop owners and promoting all of the businesses in the area.
