New Storefront For Healthy Cupcake Business

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Cynthia Sachs, of Westhampton, says she will officially open a new storefront for her 9-month-old healthy cupcake business, Hamptons Cupcake Lounge.

On Feb. 1 Sachs said she will turn the key on her first storefront at 94 Montauk Highway in East Moriches. Until then, she will continue to bake up her creative cupcakes in an Eastport kitchen that she rents.

"The store was formerly Cupcake Heaven, and is fully equipped, so fortunately all we have to do is make cosmetic changes," said Sachs of her new location.

Already, Sachs is gearing up for a grand opening celebration, which will take place on March 1. Details, she said, are still in the works.

Since the summer, Sachs, a retired Manhattan marketing consultant, has been mostly selling her cupcakes through her website, Facebook and at farmers markets, but has been actively searching for a Main Street location.

Sachs said her cupcakes are all made with unsweetened fruit purees, skim milk and all-natural sweeteners, making them healthy treats for type-2 diabetics, such as herself, to enjoy.

The cupcake flavors she creates, such as lavender lemonade, green tea, orange blossom and peppermint patty, are from a lot of experimentation and all originate from some old recipes.
