MARVILfit cycling studio will open in Hampton Bays on Saturday — the only one in the area.

Marisella Villano, a Hampton Bays resident, will celebrate the grand opening of her new business at 101-3 E. Montauk Highway, in the Hamlet Green by the movie theater, on Saturday.

The 600-square-foot space has 17 Spinner Blade ION bikes that use one of the newer technologies, which measures the amount of energy being exerted. They allow for a better cardiovascular performance, she said.

The bikes have a generator built into its flywheel to power the computer console on the bike. The computers are ANT+ compatible, meaning riders can download performance data to their Smartphones with a device that can be purchased separately and attaches to the phone. Data measured includes cadence, or leg speed, power, calories burned and heart rate, if you have the heart rate strap.

"It will give riders the caloric burn people are looking for," she said.

"My mission is to get people healthy and strong," said Villano, who has been a personal trainer for 15 years. "With my strong science background and my years of experience in the fitness industry, I really like to focus on efficiency and biomechanics. Doing it right and doing it smart. It's so important to keep people injury free and feel positive about what they are doing so they enjoy fitness for years to come."

While she has loyal clientel and strong following at her indoor and outdoor bootcamps that she has run in the area over the past year, she said she didn't feel as if she was reaching enough people. "And, let's face it, there are many people that can not afford a personal trainer."

Her bootcamps have gained a following, she said, and though her new studio isn't big enough to offer the bootcamps there, she said she felt the timing was right to open her place. "I just decided to go for it," she said of her decision to open a studio now.

At first, she was looking for spaces in Southampton. "Then this momenutm in Hampton Bays started and I thought, 'Why am I not doing it here?" she said. There are no spin studios in Hampton Bays, she said. High Gear, a spin studio that had Real Ryder bikes, in nearby Westhampton closed its doors after the summer

It has always been her dream to open a cycling studio since she taught spin classes when she first became a personal trainer. She has since given classes at gyms and other studios across the South Fork.

Villano said what's most important to her in opening her new business is that the prices to remain affordable. Classes will be $20 for a single drop-in, but packages will always be available. Specials are being offered through mid-February. One package of 20 classes averages out to about $10 a piece.

Classes, which are 45 minutes long, will be given every day, starting Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. The schedule will be posted on the website, where reservations can also be made.
