New Business: Hamptons Hand Concierge

Chris Blevins of Hampton Bays launched his new business earlier this summer.

With an entrepreneurial spirit, Chris Blevins of Hampton Bays started a concierge business, called Hamptons Hand this summer. The online business offers services from bartending to lifeguarding.

“It’s kind of a catch all, one-stop business,” said Blevins, who graduated from Hampton Bays High School in 2006.

A recent college graduate with a degree in engineering, Blevins said he has always wanted his own business and thought he should start with what he knows best — lifeguarding and bartending.

For the past several summers, Blevins says he has worked as both a bartender and a lifeguard in Southampton and has often been asked if he would provide his services at private events.

“I realized that there isn’t anywhere local for people to find these general services and do these odd jobs,” said Blevins.

It was then that Blevins created a website business that links people to services, including lifeguarding, babysitting, bartending, fishing charters, cleaning services, lawn and yard maintenance, pool services and swimming lessons.

I am not a nine to five kind of person,” said Blevins, who said this business is a perfect match for him.

Blevins, who works out of his home, says he takes on many of the jobs himself, but when he can’t, he says he has a number of local connections to contract the services too. And if a requested service is out of his spectrum, he said he can find someone who can do it.

“I do as much as I can myself and if I’m not available I can get someone else to do it,” said Blevins.

Blevins says his prices range depending on the job. For example, babysitting services start at $30 an hour for a Saturday night.
