Neighbors Curious About Shuttered Restaurant

A restaurant that opened last summer at 363 Dune Road in Hampton Bays and now sits vacant and shuttered, has neighbors curious.

Oakland's restaurant is one of those neighbors and one employee said she's been watching to see what happens at the locale that has changed names multiple times over the years.

At one point last summer, it was called the Hampton Quarters and according to its Facebook Page, the business opened Memorial Day weekend in 2012.

Posts stopped appearing on the Facebook Page in July 2012. The phone number for the business also disconnected and its website on GoDaddy.com removed.

Another restaurant Aqua, took over on July 21, offering open bar happy hours. On its Facebook page, Aqua said it looks forward to opening in May 2013, however offers no other information or contact phone number.

With Memorial Day weekend just a hop and skip away, it doesn't appear that anyone will be opening in the location, said the Oakland's employee, pointing out the mess Hurricane Sandy left on the property.

Shinnecock was one of the worst areas hit by Sandy, which washed the dunes across Dune Road, leaving the area flattened. Despite, Oakland's and its sister restaurant, Sunday's on the Bay have both re-opened.
