Mark Your Calendar: East Quogue Cash Mob Date Set

Bring $20 to the Village Green on April 6.

The East Quogue Chamber announced the East Quogue Cash Mob, which was touted as a success last year, will be back again this year.

Last April's event brought out scores of residents, each spending $20 at local shops — many of which were offering discounts to cash mobbers.

The event was created by East Quogue resident Kris Vanderslice, who saw the cash mob trend as an opportunity to help out mom and pops in her village. She, along with fellow members of the East Quogue Ladies' Sanity Society, put the word out for the event.

Businesses applauded the effort, saying the event gave them a shot in the arm.

The 2013 Cash Mob is set for April 6. Participants should be at the village green at 3:45 p.m. and bring $20 to spend.
