Main Street Sweets Opens Under New Ownership

Customers can expect to find all of their old favorite flavors and confections, but also many new and exciting treats.

Main Street Sweets is open for the season — officially opening under new ownership on Tuesday.

Familiar Westhampton Beach faces Shawn Mundinger and Antoinette Piazza took over the establishment after long-time owner Kenny Schnabel retired in November.

In the off-season, the couple has been busy renovating the interior of the shop and learning the ins and outs of the business — attending Ben & Jerry University for scoop training.

"The shop has undergone a complete renovation —  top to bottom," said Piazza. "We can't wait to share it with everyone and make Main Street a little sweeter."

Piazza, who owns Toni's Barbershop on Mill Road, and Mundinger, who is the proprietor of two gas stations, one in Patchogue and another in Farmingdale, said that aside from a new look, customers will also find some new delights in the shop.

"Customers can expect to find all of their old favorite flavors and confections, but we also have many new and exciting treats to offer," said Piazza.

On opening day, the store is featuring 30 flavors, but as the season heats up and as Ben & Jerry's introduces new flavors, she said there will more flavors to try.

The store is also offering catering, Ben & Jerry's custom ice cream cakes and some interesting novelties like ice cream sandwiches.

Also available are freshly baked cookies and brownies for sundaes, as well as fresh waffle cones that will be made daily.

Main Street Sweets is open seven days a week, Monday through Thursday and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays.

April 9 has also been set as free cone day and throughout the year, the business will be helping to support The Hurricane Educational Foundation and the Wellness Center at Westhampton Beach High School.
