Kisses, Chloe Well Received at Hamptons International Film Festival

Film shot in Hampton Bays opens to a packed house.

The movie "Kisses, Chloe" is about a tense and erotic love triangle between a young couple and the young woman who they come out to visit in a spectacular waterfront house in Hampton Bays. In the movie, the woman seduces the boyfriend of her former college friend, turning the two women against each other.

But last weekend, you would never know it, seeing the two stunning young actresses sitting together at a small table, enjoying lunch at the Golden Pear Restaurant in East Hampton, as they waited for their movie to premiere at the 18th annual Hamptons International Film Festival.

"We had lots of fun making this movie, and we loved staying in Hampton Bays," said Singer, who plays the flirty Chloe. Mikal Evans, who played Emily, said they both lived in the city, and were just in town to attend the screening of their new film.

The feature-length movie, "Kisses, Chloe," premiered Oct. 9 to a full house, at the East Hampton Cinema. Before and after the screening, director Stephen Padilla, Singer and Evans answered questions from the audience. The movie also played on Oct. 11 and the handsome male actor, Brad Coolidge, who played Alex, was on hand to answer questions from the packed crowd.

Audrey Arnsdorf of New York City and East Hampton said she really liked the movie, "and I especially liked Alex's character," she said. "It's interesting to watch the relationships between these young people, and how at that age, the testosterone wins over everything."

Jean Evenson, of Water Mill, said she came because she is "intrigued by crazy relationships," and she enjoyed the film because of the sexual tension it provoked.

Colleen O'Brien, of Hampton Bays, said she wanted to see the movie when she heard it was filmed near her house.

"It's not too often I get to see a movie filmed right in Hampton Bays, and it was fun seeing the house where it was made, although you don't see too much else in this film," she said.

Brad Coolidge explained that this film was mostly a psychological movie about the nature of relationships and the action stayed pretty much within the confines of the beautiful house and lawn overlooking the Peconic Bay.

Coolidge, who was there with his actress wife, Melissa, said he enjoyed making this film and spending time in the Hamptons.

"Our day usually started around 1:00 or 2:00 p.m. and we shot until midnight, doing long scenes," he said. "We had fresh produce delivered to this great house where we were staying."

Jessica Cosloy, of Jessica's Handcrafted Cookery," of New York City, worked as a chef for the cast and crew, using all fresh and sustainable produce.

"It was really fun to watch this film finally come together, after seeing it in bits and pieces," she said.

Filmmaker Barbara Lang, of East Hampton and New York City, also attended the film on Sunday afternoon and said and her husband enjoyed it.

"We found it fascinating and liked the acting and camera work a lot," she said.

Francis Leik, the former director of the Long Island Film Festival, which comes again to Bay Street Theater the end of October, said he liked the intimate nature of Kisses, Chloe. "I felt like I was right there with the characters, watching them closely, and it held my attention throughout the film," he said. "The acting was great. All the actors contributed to making this an interesting look at relationships."
