Homeless Program Receives $15K Grant from Bank of America

At a time when the homeless on the East End are most vulnerable, the Bank of America has stepped up in a big way to help.

Peconic Community Council, Inc., the umbrella organization under which Maureen's Haven, a homeless program on the East End, operates, received a $15,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation recently.

The grant will be used to support the ongoing operation of the agency’s Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach Program, its day center and the winter shelter program for homeless adults in the five eastern townships of Suffolk County.

Maureen's Haven, with the help of East End houses of worship and a sea of local volunteer, provides food and shelter during the cold winter months to the growing number of homeless in the area.

“We are honored that Bank of America Charitable Foundation chose our agency as a grant recipient. This funding is particularly vital as the number of individuals in need of overnight shelter continues to increase while resources for the program continue to decline. We are excited to build a strong partnership with Bank of America and its affiliates such as Merrill Lynch”, said Tracey Lutz, Executive Director, Maureen’s Haven.

“Maureen’s Haven has served as a lifeline for countless Suffolk County residents.  These funds will help them expand their reach and put more individuals on the path to economic self-sufficiency,” said Bob Isaksen, Long Island market president, Bank of America.
