Hamptons Water Hits Shelves in Westhampton

Amagansett company sells vapor distilled water with Hamptons name on the bottle.

Hamptons Water, a company that started up last year selling vapor distilled water with added electrolytes, has arrived in Westhampton Beach for summer 2013.

The bottles of waters — which offer more than just Hamptons branding — can be found on shelves at Goldberg's Bagels, 7-Eleven, and Beach Bakery Cafe in Westhamton.

The Amagansett-based company put a matrix barcode, known as Quick Response Code, on each bottle. The QRC code is scanned, using a smartphone, taking users to the Hamptons Water Company website for information on Hamptons events and businesses. A free application made for reading the black-and-white, pixelated, postage-size design can be downloaded for free from the Internet.

"It's moving," said Joyce Takos, the manager at Goldberg's. Asked if the water stands out to customers because of the Hamptons name, Takos said she believes it does.

Marine Zuik, the manager at the Beach Bakery, said they only started off with a few cases, but they sold out of it quickly. "Everything we had is gone. People do buy it," he said, adding customers like the fact that it says Hamptons on the bottle.

Hamptons Water Company bottles the water from a stream in the Catskills.

Last year, it quickly made its way onto shelves like at Hampton Seafood Co. in East Hampton, and at restaurants, like Astro's Pizza in Amagansett.

The owner, Romaine Gordon, said she's excited about expanding the brand further west.

The whole idea for the company began because she was trying to get a water that was exclusive to her fitness studio, B. East Real Ryder Fitness Studio, in Amagansett.
