Hampton Bays Business Owner Expands Nail Shop to Riverhead

A grand opening will take place on Friday.

Rose Nyugen, the owner of Sea U Nails in Hampton Bays has decided to expand to Riverhead.

On Friday, her brand-new Eastern Nails and Spa will open at 435 Osborn Avenue in Riverhead.

Nyugen said she is working to ensure the event is an "affair to remember."

Working with her longtime friend, local philanthropist and reality show star Dhonna Goodale, Nyugen has planned a ribbon cutting grand opening celebration at 1 p.m. on Friday featuing traditional Vietnamese food, drinks, and free gifts.

Neighbors Neat and Complete Hair Cutters and Carlo's Pizzeria, will be offering discounts and gift baskets at the event to help welcome Nyugen to the block.

Eastern Nails and Spa, "where divas and devos go to get pampered head to toe," is Nyugen's third shop; she has two other businesses, one in Hampton Bays and another in Centereach.

Nyugen said she is thrilled that Goodale has helped her promote the new store's opening.

"It's very exciting -- it's amazing; it makes me cry," she said.

Goodale said she was happy to help; Nyugen is a friend and also, the woman who has been doing her nails for over a decade.

"I’ve been with her for almost 15 years and she’s a very hardworking person," she said.

Coming to the United States from Vietnam in 1998, Nyugen said while she has always been adept at her business, learning a new culture, and language, posed challenges.

"It was hard for me," she said. "The language is difficult."

Nyugen, who has two daughters, Christina, 10, and Angela, 5, credits their love and that of her boyfriend, Danh Tran, for helping her realize her dreams.

Her vision, Nyugen said, is to ensure every woman who enters her salon and spa walks out happy.

"The money doesn't matter," she said. "I care about what's good for my job, and my heart."

And her hope, Nyugen said, is that as a female business owner, she can inspire others, including her children, to reach for a "good life in the future."
