Hallmark Shop Closing After 40 Years

Everything left in the store is 80 percent off.

The Hampton Bays Hallmark shop, located on the Wild by Nature shopping center, will shut its doors for good at the end of the week.

A fixture in the community for 40 years, the store sold not only cards, but also served as a prescription center and variety store.

"Our lease was up and we couldn't afford the increase" said owner Frank, who wished not to provide his last name.

Frank said the economy has taken its toll on the business.

"We can't make it work," he said.

The store, which was offering 50 percent off all items last week, is now selling items at 80 percent off. All purchases must be made with cash.
