Good Ground Yoga To Help Fight Hunger

The Hampton Bays Yoga studio is collecting canned good from now until Christmas.

Good Ground Yoga of Hampton Bays has teamed up with Long Island Cares to help combat hunger on Long Island.

Through the months of November and December, Leslie Pearlman, owner of the yoga studio, said she will be collecting canned goods at the studio's 107-5 Montauk Highway location.

"Food Drives are the source for much of the more than six million pounds of food Long Island Cares distribute each year," said Pearlman, who said she decided to hold the drive in an effort to give back to the community.

Pearlman said she choose to support Long Island Cares because she knows it is an organization that is one of the region’s most comprehensive hunger assistance organizations, serving thousands of individuals and families in need.

She pointed out: Approximately 283,700 people on Long Island receive emergency food each year – that’s 64,900 people every week.

Aside from holding a food drive, Pearlman is also hosting a special yoga class on Thanksgiving Day from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. The special “Gratitude Class” costs $30  with 50 percent of the proceeds going directly to Long Island Cares.
