Dean's Farmstand Opens for the Season

The stand officially opened for the summer on Friday morning.

Dean's Farmstand, located at 19 Library Avenue in Westhampton Beach has officially opened for the season.

On Friday, the stand was ready to serve customers, chock-full of local lettuce, sugar snap peas and strawberries with cucumbers expected to arrive by late Friday afternoon and local corn by 4th of July.

"We try to sell all local fruits and vegetables," said Dean VanTassel, who has been selling goods at his farmstand for nearly 35 years, starting out selling on the side of the road with his brother and sister.

The stand, which is a staple in the community, brings in customers from not only the library as patrons grab a read, but also from Main Street and those heading home from the beach.

Dean's Farm Stand is open Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekends fro 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.
