Canoe Place Inn Application Still Stalled - Again

"Internal issue" has caused the delay, according to spokesman.

While it was expected that a site plan application for the Canoe Place Inn property in Hampton Bays would be submitted sometime near the end of December 2011, the application has been stalled once again.

The application was orginally expected to be filed in October 2011.

According to Jim Morgo, spokesman for the developers, , the application is delayed due to ongoing "internal issues."

Morgo said he could not speak directly about the problem, but did say that he expects that the application will be submitted in mid-January.

The site plan application is expected to include plans for the restoration of Canoe Place, which sits on 5.8 acres, as well as for the construction of a residential planned development district on the 7.2 acres of canal properties the Rechlers own.

The plans would call for the construction of 40 town homes - not condos - 20 boat slips, a recreational facility, and a pool.

The entire proposal is being treated as one , with a “swap” of development rights allowing for seven additional units – meaning 40, rather than 33 units on the canal properties are being offset by the community benefits.
