Canoe Place Inn Application Stalled For Two Weeks

Developers say an "internal matter" has caused the delay.

, the developers of the Hampton Bays-based Canoe Place Inn, say that they will not be submitting an application to the Southampton Planning Board for at least another two weeks.

It was originally anticipated that the application would be presented to the planning board at the end of October.

According to Jim Morgo, spokesman for the who are also the developers of the , an "internal matter" has stalled the submission of the application for the Canoe Place Inn.

"It has nothing to do with the application," said Morgo. "The internal issue should be worked out in the next two weeks."

The application is expected to include plans for the restoration Canoe Place, which sits on 5.8 acres, as well as for the construction of a residential planned development district on the 7.2 acres of canal properties the Rechlers own.

The residential development will result in the construction of 40 town homes, not condos; 20 boat slips; a recreational facility; and pool.

The entire proposal is being treated as one , with a “swap” of development rights allowing for seven additional units – meaning 40, rather than 33 units on the canal properties offset by the community benefits.
