UPDATED: 1 North Steakhouse Shoots For End Of Month Opening

Restaurant will stay in Hampton Bays, but is moving off the canal.

Editor’s Note: In an earlier report on this story, Patch erroneously credited the wrong real estate agency with brokering the transaction between the owners of 1 North Steakhouse and the Ciao Bella Senhora property. The deal was brokered by listing agent Todd Bourgard, broker Coldwell Banker and Ralph DeRosa of Island View Properties representing the Cariellos. We regret the error.

The sign may still say Ciao Bella Senhora, but the building has undergone a total face lift as the property is soon to become the new home of 1 North Steakhouse, which is officially closing its North Road location on Nov. 10.

James and his son, Chris Cariello, the owners of 1 North Steakhouse closed on the old Ciao Bella property on Halloween and have moved quickly to get the place up to speed. According to James Cariello contractors are working on the interior space in an effort to get people seated by the end of November, but there are still some permits in process from the Town of Southampton.

In comparative photos from Coldwell Banker’s listing of the property it looks as though the new owners wasted no time: waving goodbye to the fire-engine red siding and cladding the exterior in grey slats.

The real estate transaction between the Cariellos and Araujo Familia, the listed owner of Ciao Bella, was a six-month-long process, according to agent Todd Bourgard, who brokered the deal along with the Cariellos’ agent Ralph DeRosa of Island View Properties. The two entities worked to ensure that the steakhouse remained in Hampton Bays once it vacated its original spot at One North Road on the Shinnecock Canal.

Bourgard was able to confirm that the Ciao Bella spot sold for $910,000, $89,000 cheaper than the $999,000 asking price.

Over at the North Road location a sign in the door announced that the eatery will officially close on Nov. 10. The restaurant sits beside Tide Runners on the banks of the Shinnecock Canal, a 7.2 acre region slated to be developed into townhouses by brothers Gregg and Mitchell Rechler, of R Squared LLC. That development is still in the works, with some groups protesting the plans.

James Cariello said he and his family intend to hold a grand opening celebration at the new 4,200 square-foot digs when the time comes. Patch will report on that event when it happens. Browse the photographs for before and after pictures of the new and soon-to-be-old 1 North location.
