Dog Days of Summer Events

No question, summer in Westhampton is the best time of the year!  The weather is beautiful, the town is bustling and it’s the perfect time to get out with your dog after a long winter of being confined indoors.  At Bideawee, summer brings with it a flurry of activity because during the summer Bideawee hosts a series of great, outdoor events.  Bideawee events provide the organization an unequaled opportunity to showcase Bideawee’s wonderful adoptable animals and the many programs and services offered to help pets and people on their journey of a lifetime together.  Events allow Bideawee to demonstrate the organization’s commitment to pets and the people who love them by providing animal owners in the community with the opportunity to have some fun and learn something new with their pets.

On July 9th Bideawee hosted the third annual “Doggie Social” bringing together 200 people and their dogs to Bideawee’s beautiful Westhampton grounds.  Guests enjoyed an array of fun activities with their families and dogs, including the dog Agility Course Run-thru, Training Demonstrations, a Dog Wash, playtime at the Bideawee Dog Park, food, giveaways and more!  The event helped five dogs find forever homes and raised money to support Bideawee’s programs and animals in need.

Bideawee also co-hosted the second in a series of four “Mutts & Mimosas” events at Palmer Vineyards on the North Fork.  More than 30 dogs and owners came out to Palmer Vineyard to support Bideawee and enjoy a 1.8 mile dog walk through the vineyard, lead by Palmer Vineyard Manager, Josh Carp.  Mutts & Mimosas is a great excuse to burn off some of your pup’s energy while treating yourself to a wonderful afternoon at Palmer's gorgeous landscape.  For a $15 donation to Bideawee, you will enjoy a free mimosa, Bideawee gift bag full of goodies and quality time with your dog! The next Mutts & Mimosas event will be conducted on Sunday, August 7th and Bideawee looks forward to seeing you and your four-legged friend there.

With August already upon us, the end of the summer season is rapidly approaching.  To signal the end Bideawee will host the 11th annual Bideawee “Love on a Leash” parade and fair on August 31st at the Village Green in Westhampton Beach.  This longstanding community tradition, promises to be a fun event for you and your pup.  Come early and be one of the first 100 guests to receive a complimentary Bideawee gift bag! Dress up your dog in their best outfit for the Costume Contest and get a chance to capture an award, take a look at the cute adoptable puppies, get dental hygiene tips from the vets at the Animal Hospitals at Bideawee, have the kids take part in the junior training session hosted by Bideawee certified animal trainer, Mike Rueb and be a part of the signature end of the summer pet parade down Westhampton’s Main Street.
