Horror Movie Starring Brandi Cyrus Being Shot in Hampton Bays

It's a film that will make you think twice about calling 911, said Dayna Ghiraldi, producer and publicist of a new slasher flick that is being filmed in Hampton Bays.

And what better place, she said, to shoot a horror movie than the dark roads surrounding Hubbard Park, just off Red Creek Road in Hampton Bays.

That is exactly where the production crew of the film Old 37 will be stationed until filming wraps up on Dec. 15, Ghiraldi said.

The film, which is directed by Christian Winters, of Miller Place, stars Brandi Cyrus, sister of Miley Cyrus, as well as Kane Hodder, Billy Moseley and several Long Island actors, including Sascha Knopf, of Old Brookville, and Margaret Keane Williams, of East Islip.

The premise, Ghiraldi said, is that two brothers pose as paramedics in an old ambulance and intercept 911 calls before the real paramedics arrive.

"It is terrifying and original," said Ghiraldi, who graduated from Sachem High School.

According to Ghiraldi, the script for the film was written by Paul Travers, who is also one of the producers. She said he brainstormed the screenplay after having a nightmare at his former home in Speonk.

Travers, who hails from Boston but moved to Long Island about 10 years ago and now lives in Manhattan, penned the film over a two-year period, finishing it in 2006. It was sold to a production company that went under.

Since getting the script back, it has been full-speed ahead ,Ghiraldi said. The production has already filmed scenes in East Hampton at a marina; in Patchogue Village and at a house in Westhampton Beach.

A trailer release is set for sometime in January or February, and the film is expected to be released next summer.

The movie will also have a premiere in the Hamptons  to thank local residents for all their hospitality, Ghiraldi said.
