Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival, Sun.,Nov.20, Westhampton Beach PAC

After an opening night gala and tribute to pioneering filmmaker Richard Leacock at East Hampton's Guild Hall on Friday, Nov. 18, 5:30-9:30 p.m., and all day and evening screenings at Sag Harbor's Bay Street Theatre on Sat., Nov. 19, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., the HT2FF continues on Sunday, Nov. 20, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., with all day and evening screenings at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, 76 Main Street.

Included are documentary features, shorts and student selections, plus Q&A’s with filmmakers, emceed by arts editor/writer Andrew Botsford at Westhampton Beach.

Screened, in order of appearance from 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m., will be:

11-11:30 a.m. Student’s Circle Films, three short films by winners from East Hampton, Lindenhurst, and Miller Place High Schools, of the Suffolk County Film Commission’s competition for high school students;

11:30-12 noon. Richard Leacock’s “Happy Mother’s Day,” repeated from the opening night gala;

12-1:15 p.m. Long Islander Chris Pepino’s “Inside the Perfect Circle: The Odyssey of Joel Thome,” about the Grammy award-winning modern composer;

1:15-1:45 p.m. East Hamptonite Cat Del Buono’s “Take My Hair,” about her hair donation to a relative undergoing chemotherapy;

1:45-3 p.m. Richard Kotuk’s “Travis,” an inspiring documentary about an 10-year old boy with AIDS;

3-3:30 p.m. Eileen Torpey’s “Rescued Twice: The History & Revival of the Amagansett Life-Saving Station,” which was moved back this year to its original 1902 location;

3:30-4:30 p.m. Madeline Amgott’s “Esteban Vicente: Portrait of an Artist,” about the Abstract Expressionist artist who lived in Bridgehampton for nearly 40 years;

4:30-6:30 p.m. Legendary filmmaker Anne Belle’s “Suzanne Farrell: Elusive Muse,” an Academy Award-nominated film about the life of the prima ballerina of the New York City Ballet who inspired many of choreographer George Balanchine’s works.

A dinner break from 6:30-8 p.m. will be followed by:

8-8:15 p.m. Richard P. Rogers’ “Quarry,” documenting the activities of teenagers hanging out around the Quincy Quarry in the early 1970’s;

8:15-9:45 p.m. Alexander Olch’s “The Windmill Movie,” about the Wainscott filmmaker Richard P. Rogers, who was working on a film about his life when he died in 2001.

All-day passes for $35 provide admission to all day and evening films from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Evening passes for $20, good only for the films from 8-10 p.m., are available only at the door.

At the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, all-day passes can be purchased in person at the box office, by phone at 631-288-1500, online at www.whbpac.org or at the door.
