2012 Summer Finest in World Cinema Series

This week's film, Hysteria, is directed by Tanya Wexler and stars Hugh Dancy, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Felicity Jones, Rupert Everett, and Jonathan Pryce.

The film is set in 19th-century London where young doctor Mortimer Granville, played by Dancy, is hired to work for a doctor who practices the treatment of "hysteria" on his patients.  Granville becomes friendly with the eldest daughter of his boss, played by Gyllenhaal.  The two build an alliance and possibly a love for each other along the way that leads them to confront a society that is unwilling to change.

Andrew Botsford of Quogue, an actor with the Hampton Theatre Company, will introduce and discuss films Tuesday nights in July as part of Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center's Finest in World Cinema Series.

The movie starts at 8 p.m., and is Rated R.
