'Drawer Boy' Opens in Quogue Thursday

The Hampton Theatre Company said the show is filled with abundant humor.

The Hampton Theatre Company is set to open the curtain on "The Drawer Boy" with the first showing on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The company says the production, which was written by Michael Healey, takes its inspiration from a 1972 project, called "The Farm Show," which was produced by Theatre Passe Muraille, an alternative theater that is dedicated to "creating a distinctly Canadian voice in theater.

According to the Hampton Theatre Company, the "The Drawer Boy," was written 25 years after "The Farm Show," and since its premiere in Toronto in 1999, it has become a modern-day Canadian classic, winning countless awards.

The Hampton Theatre Company said the show is filled with abundant humor, as well as sensitivity, and depicts the sometimes unclear divide between life and art and explores the healing powers of storytelling.

The company's version of the show will be directed by its Executive Director Sarah Hunnewell and features three of the theatre's well-known players, including Edward A. Brennan, Joe Pallister, and Ben Schnickel.

Mark your calendars for the following show dates: Thursdays at 7, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 and Sundays at 2:30 for the first and third weekends. There will be two shows on Saturday, March 30, with a matinée added at 2:30; there will be no performance on Easter Sunday, March 31.
