The Artist's Turn

Miller said the piece, called "Beach Grass," is from a series of small drawings she completed of beach grass.

"I was spending a lot of time down at the ocean meditating and letting my mind wander. The grasses were always waving with the wind and I was really attracted to fluid graceful movement. This particular drawing captures the grass forms that I found to be so attractive and combines it with vibrant colors that remind me of summer warmth."

Editor's Note: First Impressions is curated by East Quogue artist Meryl Spiegel.
